Positive Konnections

Terms of Use

Please read this before you use the Positive Konnections app. It explains what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.

Terms of Use Privacy Policy

1 Welcome

Positive Konnections is run by Renewal International Trust, a trust registered in Zimbabwe, based at 18 Cleveland Road, Milton Park, Harare. When we say “we” or “us” below, that is who we mean. When we say “you”, we mean you — the person using the app.

By creating an account and using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If there is anything here you are not comfortable with, please talk to us before you start using the app.

2 Who can use the app

You need to be 18 or older to sign up on your own. If you are younger than 18, you can still take part, but a parent or guardian needs to agree first and we will keep a record of that.

Your account is set up for you by our team, with a role — client, counsellor or administrator. Please don't try to get access to anything beyond your role.

3 Your account

  • Change your password the first time you sign in, and pick one you don't use anywhere else.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Don't let anyone else use your account — anything done on it is treated as done by you.
  • If you think someone has got into your account, tell us straight away at info@renewal.org.zw and we'll help you secure it.
  • If you are a counsellor or administrator, only open a client's information when you actually need it for your work, and don't copy it out of the app.

4 The app is not for emergencies

Nobody is watching the app around the clock. If you or someone else is in danger right now, don't wait for a reply here.

Call 999 — or 112 from a mobile

You can also go straight to your nearest clinic or hospital. During office hours you can reach us on +263 784 148 607, but please don't rely on that in an emergency.

Positive Konnections is here to support you between visits — not to replace your doctor, nurse or counsellor. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis or a prescription, and you shouldn't start, stop or change any treatment because of something you read here. Always check with a health professional first.

5 What you'll find in the app

  • Programmes and chapters you work through at your own pace.
  • Workbooks where you answer questions and reflect on what you're learning.
  • Surveys at the start, middle and end of a programme, so we can see whether it's actually helping.
  • Messages with your counsellor, and group conversations with others on the same programme.
  • Referrals to clinics and organisations that can help with things we can't.

We may add, change or remove parts of the app as we improve it, and occasionally it may be offline for maintenance.

6 Privacy in group conversations

Everyone in a group can see everything you post there. Only share what you're comfortable for the whole group to know — and if you'd rather keep something between you and your counsellor, send it as a private message instead.

The same goes the other way. What other people share in a group stays in the group. Don't repeat it, screenshot it, or share it outside.

7 How to behave in the app

Please don't:

  • bully, threaten, insult or harass anyone;
  • share someone's private information, photos or videos without their permission;
  • post things you know are untrue in order to cause harm;
  • post anything hateful, violent, obscene or discriminatory;
  • pretend to be someone else, or claim a role you don't have;
  • try to break into accounts, data or systems you're not meant to reach;
  • copy or collect other people's information from the app;
  • use the app to sell things, advertise or recruit.

Some of these are criminal offences in Zimbabwe — including cyberbullying, sharing someone's intimate images without consent, and gaining unauthorised access to a computer system. We report serious cases to the authorities, and we may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

8 Who owns what

The programme material, workbooks, videos and other content in the app belong to us or to the people we license them from. You're welcome to use them for your own participation, but please don't copy, sell or republish them.

What you write stays yours. Your messages, workbook answers and survey responses belong to you — we only store and use them to run the app and support you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9 Surveys are your choice

Surveys help us understand whether a programme is working. Taking part is completely up to you. You can skip a survey, or stop part way through, and it will not affect your place on the programme or the support you get.

When we report results to the people who fund our work, we report totals and patterns — not individuals. Your name is never attached unless you've specifically agreed to that in writing.

10 Other organisations we point you to

We list clinics, helplines and support organisations to make them easier to find. We don't run them and can't be responsible for the care or service they provide. If you contact them, that relationship is between you and them.

11 Costs

The app is free to use. You'll still pay your own mobile network for the data you use, at whatever rate they charge.

12 Leaving, and being asked to leave

You can stop using the app whenever you like, and you can ask us to close your account by emailing info@renewal.org.zw. What happens to your information afterwards is set out in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account if these terms are being broken, if someone is being put at risk, or if we have to for legal reasons. Where we can, we'll tell you first and explain why.

13 What we can and can't promise

We work hard to keep the app running, accurate and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or completely free of errors. We're not responsible for what other users post, or for the services of organisations we refer you to.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under Zimbabwean law — including your rights as a consumer and your rights over your personal information.

14 Changes to these terms

If we make a change that really affects you, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect, so you have time to decide whether you're happy to continue.

15 If you're unhappy

Tell us first — email info@renewal.org.zw or call +263 784 148 607. We'll acknowledge your complaint and work with you to sort it out. If it's about your personal information and you're not satisfied with our answer, you can take it further with POTRAZ — details are in the Privacy Policy.

These terms are governed by the law of Zimbabwe.
